To decide a print media is not worth the "cost" for a cultural arts event like Malhar is truly phaathetic. I hope the powers to be open their eyes and realise what they are trying to nurture and protect in the first place.

Dear sirs, Raga was my first exposure to other lovers of words, and my first publication of any sort. Today I am an internationally published novelist, and when I trace my journey back - it begins (to the extent anything can be said to begin) at Raga. The Critique and Encouragement is unparalleled. 2 fellow Raga alumni were the first proof readers of my novel. I cannot overstate what the little Malhar magazine meant to me.

Raga has been a haven for those seeking to think and write outside the box while remaining tapped into the vibrant nature of the festival. Shutting down a department which help caters to both the wise and the talented seems an unfair thing to do in the least.

Raga was my first experience having my writing critiqued and edited by my peers. It is thanks to my time at Raga that I embarked upon a career as a science writer, now working at CERN while pursuing a PhD in science communication. Please do not shutter a valuable crucible for tomorrow's writers and researchers.

My experience at Raga helped me get a job at the Times of India right out of Xavier's. I have since moved on to academic writing: I am completing my PhD in English at the University of South Florida. I continue to cherish my formative years as a writer at the Raga.

Raga was my first shot at writing professionally and helped in honing much needed and valued skills in today's world.
