The White House has finally taken initiative to relieve Puerto Rico from its current financial crisis. To do so, Congress must agree to permit Puerto Rican governments and corporations to officially declare bankruptcy. Previously, declaring bankruptcy, also known as "Chapter 9", is an option that has always been available to all 50 states, except for Puerto Rico. The 3.5 million people living in Puerto Rico are Americans, just as American as anyone reading this. Please, let them feel this way.
