If the school is not in financial distress, it should remain OPEN! There aren’t any options for girls in the North East Bronx.

Actively visit or recruit more students in potential schools. I attended Preston because of literature (w/ photos) that were left at my school in 1966 and I fell in love with Preston. I had never heard of it before - and it was the best thing that ever happened to me.

The world today needs strong women who are grounded in their own independent strength, fueled by compassion, committed to fostering caring friendships with other women more then ever. These qualities build communities and create a foundation for a better future, a better world. It's tragic that Preston High School, which has long nurtured these essential virtues, asked us to give of ourselves to be charitable in both the monetary sense and as human, is closing due to the greed-driven forces that value money over the power of human connection and personal growth they taught. The loss of such a place is not just a loss for the students and the teachers that shaped them — but for the society that would have been shaped by their strength, compassion, and solidarity. I am thankful for my time spent and friendships made at Preston and so sad that others might not have the same, and the world will lose out on the people they might have become if they had the opportunity (Yes, i'm sure they will be great none the less, but the variable— that was Preston —will have change). Love to all the Prestonites.

We need to keep schools in the community open. Shutting them down is such a disservice to all the children who we are supposed to prepare and guide for the future.

I think there are enough interested people to explore options if all parties are willing to.. I think that they should have been transparent, and told us what was going on over the past few years more or less WHEN AND AS IT ACTUALLY OCCURRED.

New york cannot afford to be closing down schools.
