Married to a Preston alum who has a long legacy behind her of women that graduates from Preston. Moved to TN several years ago, started a family, and always felt relieved after I had daughters that they would be able to attend Preston (within walking distance to my home). There are so many great Catholic high school options for boys living in the Bronx; not so many for girls. Sure, I love where I live, but when I think about raising my girls here and giving them a good education - there isn’t much keeping me around now that Preston is closing. What will become of the building that made up Preston high school? I can imagine something will be placed there that isn’t exactly cohesive with the values and culture of the small neighborhood that encapsulates what is Preston now.
Interpret that however you want, but I’d imagine this will be one of many catalysts that will cause some serious demographic changes in the neighborhood.
