Phoenix hall provides an excellent service to our community. Both my son and I weekly attend the classes provided here. It has come as a shock that the hall will be closing.

In 2015 Phonenix Hall were grant funded, on my recommendation, by Near Neighbours - a DCLG/Church Urban Fund funded initiative to make sure money gets to the right places in our local communities. With enormous enthusiasm, they used the funds to create a community cook-book that respected every one of Small Heath's many and different communities. The launch events saw many members of the community coming together to share food from their own cultures, and the result was a real buzz and excitement, as well as a really important place for a wide variety of folk to meet.
For these reasons, I believe BVT's disinvestment from Phoenix Hall, and the Bordesley Village area, to be short-sighted. It might make financial sense, but it will be walking out on a vulnerable part of our city that needs public meeting spaces, that belong to no-one, and can be used by everyone.
I urge them to reconsider, and to shoulder - because it's the right thing to do - the sacrificial nature of being a community organisation in these areas.

Phoenix Hall is a part of our lives and we participate in most of the activities that it provides. My daughter is very attached to the various classes that go on there. The staff has become like family over the years and we would do everything in our power to stop it from being shut down. It is a brilliant platform to engage the local community and bring us together. Hope and pray it continues to do so for many many more years to come .

This community centre needs to be saved and given a chance to survive in such widening times, never before has our need for our communities to stay close and look out for one another.

You really have no idea on what this venue does for the community. Please meet with individuals in order to find out how it has changed people's lives. Please let's not become yet another statistic!

This is The Centre of our local community and if it shuts over financial cuts then you're going to get the opposite of what has been developed here.

Phoenix Hall is a remarkable and amazing place. The projects and activities have a positive impact on the lives of many people that use the centre. This includes many elderly and young people and this would have a devastating impact on their lives. I feel this club has helped many elderly people to maintain their sanity and has helped many kids off the streets and into a positive environment where they can develop into good law abiding contributers to society. To close this centre down would not only be unreasonable and inconsiderate but it would have a negative impact on many many lives

Closing the Hall will, no doubt, be a great loss to the community.

This is an invaluable facility for the local community & serves many diverse needs. The closure of this facility will be a retrograde step for our diverse community. What do we get for paying our council taxes? We have the worst leisure & community services offered in Birmingham.
