Trees should never be cut down without good reason. What you are proposing is not good reason - PLEASE LEAVE THE TREES ALONE.

Please do not cut the trees down. This will ruin the look of the Square. Could a bench be constructed around the trunks of the trees? Then the roots would not be such a hazard.

The trees are a favourite night roost for many birds as well as making The Square a less urban space.
