Save Pet Miniature Goats. Change Animal Management Laws to allow them on 1000m2 pr pair.
We, the Undersigned, hereby request that Council;
Change the Animal Management Regulations and Laws in regards to Miniature Goats. We request Redland City Council Allow Miniature Goats as Pets on Large Residential Properties, from 1000m2 pr pair.
Miniature Goats are ¼ the size of their larger bred cousins, the full-size Goat, stand smaller than the height of the average family dog, and make great Family pets. Miniature Goats are non-aggressive, and pose No Threat to people, the Environment or Wildlife. Miniature Goats are less intrusive to the land and environment than chickens, other fowl and the Family pet dog or cat. These animals are no different to maintain than the family dog, requiring fencing, foot trimming and vaccination, and their faeces has no odour. Miniature Goats are good for natural lawn maintenance, safe in nature areas, not posing a threat to wildlife, and the various Breeders Associations state Miniature goats only require 1000m2 per Pair. Far less than RCC’s current requirements. Allowances have been made for other small livestock, such as chickens, ducks, geese, guinea fowl and turkeys, and we ask the same allowance be made for these miniature’s due to their docile nature, non intrusive design, and versatility as both useful to a home, good for the natural environment and making great loving pets.
