Certain members of the Pepperdine administration are threatening to terminate the Pepperdine Lausanne website. If you partook in the Pepperdine Lausanne program, or any other Pepperdine European program for that matter, you most likely used PepperdineLausanne.com as a resource every weekend to fill out your travel log or plan a visit to another Pepperdine house. More than that, the site hosts a vast archive of some of the Lausanne Program's most treasured memories from over the years, as well as a wealth of knowledge acquired from previous students which includes recommendations for day trips all across Switzerland and insights into authentic Swiss culture. Critically, the site provides Lausanne students with access to detailed safety information regarding travel throughout the European continent which has thus far proven to be of key importance to students during their time overseas. In addition to this, the site contains the Lausanne blog where current students are invited to share about their globetrotting experiences with the larger Pepperdine community as well as their loved ones back home.

The Pepperdine Lausanne website is in large part, a student-run operation, giving students room to hone their web design skills and exercise their creativity. Recent alumni of the program are concerned that the replacement website that the Pepperdine administration plans to implement will prove less than sufficient.

Instead of nixing the current website, the Pepperdine Lausanne alumni network is proposing that the university administration use PepperdineLausanne.com as a template after which the websites of its other abroad programs can be modeled after. Since among the Pepperdine abroad programs, Lausanne's website is broadly considered to be the most functional and aesthetically appealing website by students, faculty, and parents, we believe that the university is doing a disservice to its nationally-ranked abroad programs by preventing them from continuing the website. We believe that if the university would truly like to improve its students' quality of abroad experience, they should at the very least keep the Pepperdine Lausanne website and at most use the site’s excellent web design as a sort of benchmark that the websites of Pepperdine's other abroad programs may choose to strive for.

Your signature will signal to Pepperdine that the interested parties (primarily students and parents) would like to see the university continue to provide its students with the best internet resources during their time of study in Lausanne, Switzerland. Moreover, a recognition of the success of the current Pepperdine Lausanne website would demonstrate to the administration the type of high-quality web design that these interested parties prefer.

If you're the type of person who supports useful and well-designed websites as a principle, then please add your signature to the list!
