ESSENTIAL route.
Given the accidents on South Deeside Road Park Bridge also provides a key diversion route to get people home or to their destinations

The bridge closure costs me an extra half an hour daily per trip and also increases full use and unneeded congestion on the roads

The bridge being closed has caused significant issues for us, my husband now has to take significant detours to work, it may not look like much on a map but it definitely reflects in our fuel and time.
It feels like a huge divide between the two small communities of Durris and Drumoak. Very sad for all business, community and fundraising events.

The concept of closing this historic bridge which links the communities of Durris and Drumoak and the North and South Deeside Roads is ludicrous. The bridge is well used by the local community and its' closure has caused considerable inconvenience and additional travel for many people in the community who use the bridge regularly. Some time ago, bollards were erected on either side of the bridge to prevent it from being used by heavy vehicles and no doubt these were put there at considerable expense. Why do this if closure was the ultimate goal - or is this just another example of how our local council manages to squander money? There have been numerous new housing developments in the area and the council have acquired massive funds in planning gain from these developments, which should be used for community benefits. Perhaps these funds could be used to assist in repairing and maintaining Park Bridge. Greater accountability on how these funds are used to benefit the community needs to be more transparent. Many local people depend on being able to cross Park Bridge to access public transport as there's no bus service on the South Deeside Road. The local post-office in Drumoak, which is a great asset and used by both Drumoak and Durris communities, will also suffer as a result. Many families use the bridge to transport their children to the local school and nursery in Drumoak. Local residents working in Aberdeen use the South Deeside Road to commute to work, thus easing traffic congestion on the North Deeside Road. To divide the communities of Drumoak and Durris, which have been linked historically is both short-sighted and undesirable and undermines community spirit.

Why is this bridge not being repaired and up graded, as the council have ingathered a considerable amount of income over the last 30 years from the residents in Drumoak.
Really quite disgraceful that the bridge has been allowed become in such a state of disrepair.

I am signing this petition to save the Drumoak Bridge which has been there all my life. My daughter lives in Aberdeen and uses it regularly when she visits me and meet at Drumoak then nips over to visit her grandparents at Durris. The time/money going to be spent by residents working over the water from Durris etc to Drumoak and beyond is ridiculous when the bridge could be maintained for access over that snall stretch of water - just ridiculous. Cant imagine there never being a road around - been there forever and is a real asset to both sides of the water!

This bridge is essential for residents in the Durris area to access the A93 at Drumoak. Although its original construction in 1854 by the Deeside Railway Company was to provide access to Park Station it has provided a vital link since then. Surely it can be made fit for cars to use as it is too narrow for anything bigger and wider. Did Aberdeenshire Council not see this problem coming years ago?
