Let's improve, promote, and expand our high school band and choral programs, and make them SO GREAT, that more students want to come to this district for their love of music!
You can only do this with top notch band AND choral directors, not combining them!

The school district wants kids to stay here, but they will NOT if there isn't a GREAT high school music program.
The music programs in the past have always been outstanding, with bands and choirs winning many awards. This is the program that SHOULD BE PUSHED, SUPPORTED, AND HELPED TO GROW! This will attract MORE students who desire a top notch band or choir experience.
It will NOT happen if they try to combine directors, as each director needs to specialize in either instrumental or choral work!

The arts are so important to our wellbeing. Went to a program with 300 musicians, at Arvada High. Unbelievable. They need more

Music is a lifetime skill. Furthermore, our music students tend to be the most accomplished students in other areas of study, and the least likely to get into trouble.

Not all students are into athletics, but are musically inclined. It is not fair to disregard their interests. Having a group to relate to and feel included in keeps more students in school. Please keep music programs in Woodland Park schools and with adequate teaching staff.

I have had 4 daughters come through the Woodland Park High School music program- all very involved... 1 was a Drum major for the band (2009)one received the Best marcher award for the marching band ( 2011) and is pursuing continuing her love of Music in college in the top choir at Western State- 1 is doing her student teaching as a vocal music teacher at present, ready to look for a job next year. The value is beyond a monetary value, but needs to be valued .... in the highest way. My last daughter was affected by the lack of support of the program this last year but has done some stuff on her own. I say all this to let you know how grateful I was for the music programs of the past... and that the standard needs to be higher.

Please keep a viable and vigorous music program! We have so enjoyed the Madrical singers and plays and cannot imagine the school giving them up! What about the band?

I was in mads and man choir. Both of which were wonderful experiences. It would be sad if this is passed.

My sons David and Tim Graf benefited enormously by their participation in vocal music besides athletics and student council. It is a piece of their lives that helped them in so many ways. I can't imagine that one teacher could possibly teach both instrumental as well as. iCal music.

Music education is VITAL to the students who are geared to be made whole through their music endeavors. This will exclude far too many who are wired to thrive in their total high school education through the pathway of their music passions. Without it, their math, science, social, and communication skills falter, and can lead to complete failures in their academic performance. For some, it is what brings them discipline and focus so that they can grow and learn in all of the other subjects presented to them in high school. I have seen amazing achievement in even the poorest of socio-economic level school districts through strong music programs. Students are inspired to do college-level music literature even if high school music has been their only exposure to musical theory and performance. It is for many, their only pathway to college, or to even be inspired to go on in their education past the high school level. Find the money......for the sake of many students who will be the ultimate losers if these programs aren't funded.

This has been allowed to happen for too many years. Mr. Critchlow had an excellent program with lots of students but the High School was a failure.
