The LSRCA should be transparent on how it decided to accept this mobile home park construction to proceed to use this wetland.

People move up here for these spaces. We need to protect what others have lost and wish they had what we have. Progress is fine but not at the expense of what keeps us healthy.

Turn a wetland into a mobile home park? I believe that keeping the wetland intact will not only support higher water quality and flood control, but attract more people in the future to this area I call home. Wetlands support many life systems and are one of the most unique ecosystems in the world. Let's keep it that way or I am never coming home.

Transparency is necessary. Why is the public being shut out from any discussions on this issue. Wetlands belong to everyone and should not be destroyed when there are other appropriate locations for building mobile home parks or subdivisions.

Our property is mostly protected wetland. In retirement we are continually blessed with viewing wildlife on this beautiful ecosystem. The same protection should be there for every wetland in Ontario.

I am a resident of Keswick who cares about preserving significant wetlands and forests. I drive by this area (Paradise Beach/Orchard Grove) regularly and marvel at the unspoiled beauty of that section of Georgina. The citizens of Georgina deserve to know why it is not being protected.

Our Organization, the South Lake Simcoe Naturalists (SLSN, an Ontario Nature member Group) has been active in research, recreation and conservation activities in the South Lake Simcoe area for 25 years. Forests, wetlands and other natural areas like the North Gwillimbury forests are a priority of our conservation interest. We have concentrated of preparation for community review and scrutiny of D.G. Group Section 28 submission, and have requested specific information on this from the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA).
We were shocked to learn that the LSRCA returned all originals of DG Group’s application after telling us that the records did not exist. Then, when DG Group re-applied, SLSN was again falsely told the record did not exist. The LSRCA now admits that it disposed of the first application and that it has the second application.
Consequently, we have had no choice but to do freedom of information requests to find out what was going on with the DG Group application for a new development in the wetland. We are very disappointed that the LSRCA would engage in what seems rather unusual behaviour. With advice and action of our legal representative at Ecojustice, we are seeking Ontario’s Information and Privacy Commissioner investigate this situation regarding an apparent failing to comply with basic access to information requirements in handling DG Group’s application in the interests of open public process.

The LSRCA should not have the choice to be interested or not to hear from the public. This is not due diligence towards public interest and the public should be able to scrutinize and object to the application if warranted. This reeks of nepotism.

I do not understand why the LSRCA will not make this application public. Usually the LSRCA acts in a much more transparent manner.

A mobile home park instead of wetlands? Not fair to the creatures that live there. Surely some farmland would work just as well?
