Downtown Canton has such old town charm that has been preserved. This modern parking deck will spoil the charm, hide the historic church building and block the Riverview Cemetery. It will also dwarf the historic marble Courthouse building. I feel sure there is another location where this parking deck could be constructed that would not be so intrusive on the beautifully preserved area. I beg you to please take another look and consider the old town flavor of the downtown area. Please don't go the way of Atlanta and other places in our state. My parents are buried in Riverview Cemetery and I would feel very comfortable going back there with the parking deck blocking the view and the security I feel there. I am a single woman and wouldn't go there alone with the parking deck there. Please, please preserve this beautiful and historic greenspace for the future generations. Please give your decision more thought and concern. Preserve the downtown beauty and history for the future. Once it's gone, the history and charm are gone.

This will totally change the landscape of our beautiful town. What about an underground deck... something less obtrusive? I believe this will be the end of any future movie /tv filmings if we lose the look of our downtown, and that’s lost revenue for our beautiful city and county. There has to be a better solution!
