SAVE OUR TENNIS COURTS VIA PARAISO PARK MONTEREY,CA

This Park means so much to so many. It is filled with Memories that mean something. This should matter. Not everything should be paved over in the name of progress, if doing so crushes hearts. Memories are meant to be treasured and honored for future generations. Beautiful the way it is. Please reconsider and respect the feelings of those who love this Park.

Please save our courts,I ve played there over the years.They are in a central location of Monterey.Tennis is a sport ,for all ages , and will be played forever.

These are Tennis courts and the integrity of them should not be altered. I learned how to play there and want to continue to play there.

I grew up playing here and these have been here all my life. Please find the Pickle ball players somewhere else to play.

I also lived in that neighborhood for 38 years, and currently play Pickleball on MWF @930 am and have yet to see any of you that claim to be playing tennis there. So OBVIOUSLY we are NOT interfering with your tennis games. AND I REPEAT, on those days There are 8 to 18 PB Players waiting and rotating to play Pickleball, So I don't know when we are encroaching on your play. Perhaps you are not aware that they are teaching pickleball in the the schools now. The council is NOT taking away tennis courts, they are adapting them to be able to share with tennis and pickleball players. Unlike other cities, Monterey, PG, Seaside does not yet have the money to build the designated pickleball courts like Santa Cruz, Cambria, Paso Robles, and King City. PLEASE educate your self and google PICKLEBALL, OR U-TUBE Pickleball 101 to see the fastest growing sport in the country.

Please do not change the courts. Too many home grown locals play there.

Please keep our public tennis courts. They are an institution and are used regularly by us local residents.

This is ridiculous! We have played on those courts for over 50 years!!! Does anyone on the parks commission play pickle ball?? You don't need them, those tennis courts are used all the time, Come on Monterey what are you thinking!! The Mayor plays tennis!!!! Take away take away that's all the council does!!!

NOONE asked for the courts to be removed. Currently 18 -20 people enjoy playing pickleball there on MWF morning, and in 2 months there has NEVER been a conflict with tennis players. The different color lines are for pickleball, played with a paddle and a ball that looks like a whiffle ball, and with 4 on a court (pickleball 101 on UTUBE). We were only asking if the city would let us keep 2 portable nets off to the side because TWO Pickleball courts can fit on ONE tennis court., AND the # of people wanting to play is increasing. PLEASE be TOTALLY informed before you believe that our local Monterey Pickleball club wanted the tennis courts removed. We are all former tennis players!!!

Taking away this park is not right for those living in this beautiful town. Its more than just a park being taken away, it's the irreplaceable memories and stories from generations growing up. Some of my best childhood memories happened at Via Pariso, the summer camp, little league baseball. I intend to make more loving memories there with my children. The small patch of forest and park is what makes Monterey so special and you won't find any other city with that kind of natural land in a residential neighborhood. Monterey would not be the same and that's a fact.

This petition is very deceptive. NOONE wants to get rid of the existing courts. IF any of you that signed have ever come to the courts (MWF 9:30am) you would see that the gold painted lines are for pickleball, and we have our own net lowering tool for the game. Monterey's NIP (neighborhood improvement program) GRACIOUSLY painted the court for pickleball players, which on some days number up to 18. The intent is to share the courts with Tennis players, NOT to eliminate it. The city is aware that Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the country, and Monterey is pretty behind on that. http://www.centralcoastactive.com/content/get-pickleball-craze In over 2 months of play at Via Paraiso, I have yet to see tennis players waiting to play, so I do not see what the issue is. Currently we have 20 players locally, and weekly our facebook site gets inquiries from visitors that want to play while on vacation, or that live here in the winter. My mom grew up playing tennis there. And its a great court to learn to play. As well as within walking distance for folks without a car or DL. HOW ABIUT THIS IDEA..... Put adjustable nets on the courts the BOTH Tennis AND Pickleball could be played there....but WHO plays Pickleball??????
