"Save Our Street Dogs – Stop the Removal Now!"

Petition to the Honourable Supreme Court of India, Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, and the Governments of Delhi & Rajasthan
We, the citizens of India, are heartbroken by the recent Supreme Court ruling to remove all street dogs from Delhi and Rajasthan.
These dogs are not “strays” — they are community members. They have grown up in our streets, trusted our kindness, and wagged their tails at our children. To take them away is to erase part of our daily life, our compassion, and our humanity.
This decision risks condemning thousands of innocent animals to fear, pain, and death. We cannot stay silent while those who cannot speak for themselves are taken away from the only homes they have ever known.
We plead for a better path — one of kindness and coexistence:
Expand sterilisation and vaccination programmes to control the population humanely.
Create safe feeding zones where street dogs can live peacefully under community care.
Educate citizens on respectful coexistence rather than fear and removal.
India has always been a country of compassion. Let us not turn our backs on these voiceless souls now. We urge the Supreme Court and the state governments to reverse this ruling and protect the lives of our street dogs.
They look to us with trust in their eyes — let’s not betray it.
