These magnificent horses definitely need to continue with the visual ID. With so many horses being stolen, fast obvious ID is a must. Why break a tried and true tradition that has worked for ages?

Standardbred horses or the culture , they life matters, doesn't deserve to be at any kill pens/splatter house or rescue forms

Could it be that this is the perfect solution in the US TA‘s view to skirt the bad press that they were getting from big money earners ending up in slaughterhouse pens. No one will know anymore…

This is the reason race tracks should be shut down. They use and absuse the animals and then send them to there horrific death.

Heart of Phoenix rescue freeze brands a heart on the chest of each horse it saves so that if adopted and somehow they end up in a kill pen, they can identify the horse at once. Chips are a bust in a pen of 60 horses. Too many have too worked hard to create a third market for retired Amish horses as that bomb proof horse to deny a brand simply because the breeder or former owners fear blackmail.

The microchips are important - but we NEED visible brands!!! The usta is burying its head in the sand and refusing to acknowledge the cruelty that runs rampant in this business and the trainers who send horses to Amish/kill pens. Have some transparency usta and do something about it!
