How dare Hazlemere Parish Council try and force the clubs and users of the Sports Pavilion out of their rightful home. This is for the community, not for profit. Vote out the councillors at the next election and show them who you support.

This facility should never be used as a cash cow, fleacing the the local people of Hazlemere. It should be for the use of the whole community, regardless of their household income. Not all residents of Hazlemere live in Magnolia Dene or Manor Road. This needs to remain an affordable community owned facility.

Another silly comment on the Hazlemere Residents Association notice board. They (meaning the Chairman of HPC) seem convinced that HSA is in direct competition with local pubs!!! Bet The Crown wouldn't agree. Unlike pubs, open all day, play areas, individual Licensee's, HSA has a bar open for sports clubs and community parties - how on earth can that be competition?? Does the Community Centre get the same criticism???

I have lived in Hazlemere for over 40 years, the pavilion is a community facility and the Parish Council does not have a mandate to make this decision.

I was one of the designers of the Pavilion, and helped make it a facility for the Hazlemere community, where I live. The rent set is a legally binding agreement for the building to be used as it was intended, and the commercial approach to the lease of the building is completely as odds with the intended use of the building. Councillors elected at the time fought to have this building constructed for community use, and used local tax payers money to ensure it was for that purpose. It is staggering to think that the current Councillors see it appropriate to discard the purpose if the building for monetary gain. The Government are keen to volunteers support projects, where paid staff make projects too costly to run. The Parish Council are in real danger of turning the Pavilion into an empty building used by no one, and all the time incurring costs to maintain it. They clearly demonstrate a complete lack of understanding of what the residents want. They are elected to look after local matters and serve the community in a way the community wants. Perhaps they should look at their own mandate and support the community in keeping this prestigious building open for locals to use to keep the community together.

I cannot believe the council want to take away a facility that is so popular with young and old, sport is something which contributes to keeping children out of trouble, it helps to keep the elderly young and gives so many others a lot of pleasure - the council are completely out of order.
