We have a greater right to protect our health and safety from harmful toxins contained in the sewage sludge being dumped on agricultural land in the guise of "biosolids fertilizer, from where it percolates into our rivers and contaminates everything that lives in them and our drinking water, than the industry that makes the stuff has to use it, no matter how cost-effective it is, in comparison with other methods of disposal of treated sewage.

This is a serious issue, that adds to the harm that is done by pesticide and industrial logging in the Siletz Gorge. To learn more about the Siletz Gorge head to google earth for a tour of the upper gorge. There is a huge travesty unraveling under our nose.

Time for coalitions of informed groups and citizens to come together to protect the Siletz and other lands/rivers in our county and to hold city public works to the highest standards of practice for treatment practices adequate for growing populations, and ALL of the heavy metals, pharmaceuticals and illicit drugs, pesticides and chlorine based chemicals entering via water treatment plant protocols and through run-off from ag and logging activities. If we want clean water, adequate water to drink, crops and food chain free of harmful substances, fish in our rivers that we can eat without being poisoned, & healthy wildlife, the time is NOW for taking action. Stand together, don't be dazzled by the PR or what you wish was true. Inform yourself and demand action!

The Siletz river is the life blood of the area. Pumping bio-solids run off pollutes our river, and damages the surrounding eco-system.
