As someone who comes to the area each year for 2 - 3 weeks I find this very concerning. We walk the beaches and care about the people we have met who live in the area year round. We follow on facebook year round and stay up on community meetings all along the coast and seems like this is becoming a wide spread issue. Our primary river the Rio Grande is ruined in our area by fertilizer run off so I understand some of the impacts. Action needs to be taken. If they could clean up the Hudson river you can act now to decrease the eventual cost to health and economy.

I was camping at moonshine park off the Siletz river the weekend of the Siletz powwow. August 10th. We drove by the smell of fresh air several times before seeing a Toledo sewage truck pass us and coming upon a field that reeked of human waste. There is no way this is safe. Disease and cancer rates are high on the reservation because people are poisoning the water. Please someone with the power to do so, stop this. Save the river

Rivers carry the Water of Life, the same as our arteries carry our blood. Polluting either creates dis ease. Harming Mother only brings harm to our selves.

This kills plants, animals, people, and every creature downstream. This is evil and irresponsible. Those who foul the river should swim in it and drink the water instead of leaving others to suffer from their evil mayhem.

I cannot begin to imagine why we ever thought it was a good idea to spray biosolids on grounds that provide so many families, pets and wildlife with a water source, grounds for gardening, food and nutrition. Aside from considering the huge impact it has had on the Siletz River and other surrounding areas, one would be hard-pressed to not consider the impact it might have on human health as studies and tests clearly confirm what has been found in the water as a result of the biosolids. It's absolutely necessary that we take a look at the future health of our lands and rivers and consider what this might mean for people who live in the surrounding areas and there are so many other places where the same thing is happening. From something glistening and pristine that I spent my childhood playing in, to something covered in algae with various chemicals in it...so unsettling!

The Siletz River was an important and happy place for many, many people over the years. Going to Moonshine Park before it was all built up, floating on inner tubes down the river. Further up, in the gorge, was a favorite place for my dad and many others for fishing. It's been a part of so very many lives who have made and shared memory's over the decades. It should not, must not be seen as an easy place to dump whatever disgusting waste these companys choose. The water affects so much in the area and the people who depend on it. If it isn't a crime it should be if you use the river for a disposal site.
