My great grandmother needed the excellent care she received as she got older. We are very grateful she was able to access it.

Extend the Conditions! Our Japanese seniors deserve to have a care facility that focuses on their cultural needs.

I, agree with this petition..

My father was a resident at both the ICF & nursing home. Don’t know what we would have done without their care for him! Please extend the 5-year conditions set forth by the CA Attorney General in 2016, as the pandemic has made it virtually impossible for these folks to find other facilities by the expiration of the original terms.

Save our Japanese American seniors!

Outrageous that these seniors are in danger of eviction. Another example of corporate greed winning over helpless and vulnerable individuals.

Please protect Keiro Retirement facilities!

Please save this unique and culturally sensitive community.

Please extend the conditions of this agreement!! And in the meantime work on building a new, bigger, better facility so the seniors will have somewhere to go once the new extension has expired.

Dear Attorney General Becerra, In your consideration of how to best to reconcile the circumstances of these senior citizens of Japanese American heritage, I ask that you look to your own family history and the healthcare needs of those members of your family who came to California to work and build a foundation for the future generations, you!  The term Issei denotes that these seniors are the pioneers of their families in America. While many of these pioneers could function well enough to earn a living in their interaction with the public, many do not master the new language. Even though they adopt the new holiday celebrations, discover new foods and traditions (as was the case with my mother-in-law), they still find their source of comfort lay in observing cultural traditions, eating familiar foods and speaking the familiar words of their first language. The Pacifica owned Senior housing compounds formerly known as Keiro caters to those needs, and has the distinction of being the last institution in the United States to provide this needed environment for these Japanese Americans.  Mental Healthcare professionals would tell you that changes of an environment can be both disorienting and detrimental to seniors. I submit to you that at this age it could end their lives in short order. Few approach becoming centenarians, let alone cross that threshold. Please help to provide them the peace of mind that their final years, in the comfort of their homes, are not in jeopardy and filled with the stress of concern for their own future safety. I was under the impression that kindness was a good business practice. Someone at Pacifica needs to re-evaluate their actions. Original charters should count, even when contracts are bought out.
