We are opposed to the proposal to remove the post office facility from Dumbarton High Street to facilitate refurbishment of the Co-op store.
The Co-op movement was founded to support the aims and aspirations of working class people and retains links with this image till the present day.
We therefore call upon the Co-op,local and national politicians, developers and particularly the regeneration movers and shakers in our area to devise aninitiateo to retain this vital service in the High Street area.
This is a vital service for people in Dumbarton which brings as a spin off people shopping (footfall) to the Town Centre. There are plenty of shops which could "pop up" as a Post Office until this refurbishment is complete. Or else, of course, they could open the old Post Office in the Artizan Centre. Our politicians should be lobbying on this now.
