Save Our Paddle Sport Access to Three Sisters Spring

I support paddle in access to 3 Sisters Spring when manatees are not present. Limiting access to swimmers is discriminatory to those that cannot swim well or are physically unable to enter/exit their craft without dificulty. Additioanlly, I believe paddling a less intrusive more environmentally friendly way to experience the springs vs swimming.

My trip into the spring has had a life long impact. I truly beleave that I had less impact than the screaming kids splashing around in the spring!

Is it the responsibility of the USFWS to insure that the profits of park concessions are protected? Why can you walk in but are not allowed access in a paddle craft?

Kayaking to Three Sisters Spring to view the manatees in mid December 2013 was the highlight of my Florida vacation. I felt that we were very respectful of the manatees and did not disturb them. I urge the USFWS to not ban paddle craft from the interior of Three Sisters Spring.

A kayak/canoe beach is MUCH safer for paddlers than imposing a floating re-entry. The potential for entrapment and drowning while entering a kayak from deep water is serious!.

It seems that paddle craft on the surface would be less disruptive to the manatees than swimming/snorkeling which would be able to dive deep below the surface with/without fins. Or is this just a way for the commercial boat operators to keep individuals out of 3 Sisters?

A kayak/canoe beach is MUCH safer for paddlers than imposing a floating re-entry. The potential for entrapment and drowning while entering a kayak from deep water is high.

I feel Kayaks are less bothersome to Manatee's then swimmers when they follow the rues.

I agree with the petition. There has been no indication that paddlecraft (in particular kayaks) have any detrimental effect on the manatees or other wildlife. In fact, these craft do not contribute to any pollution nor accident t damage to the manatees due to motor propeller injuries. Furthermore, by creating an e vitro meant where the access Is restricted from 3 sisters, that would only spill over to further contesting other venues. The Nature Coast and kayaking have gotten to be entertwined as to providing an e vitro met to appreciate the most beautiful part of Florida, and I believe, the entire country. It would be a shame to restrict the access to those who have deep water mooring.

Agree with saving paddle sport access to Three Sisters Spring without having to re-enter their craft from a deep water mooring as is proposed.

Arguments have already been made on behalf of paddlers. I don't mind swimming after I get there, but my rolls are not as reliable as they should be. A shore landing to get out of and back into kayaks would be appreciated. If shore landings are not feasible, maybe a water level floating dock...

When the idea of improving 3 Sisters was first brought up to the public I remember at a meeting telling folks "Be careful what you start". Now all the hard work of the paddlers will come back to bite them. Soon we will be excluded from using the area altogether. This is the last time to make a stand for a paddle dock or secure place to exit our kayaks safely. Not all of us are agile enough to swim into the area. Swimming is also not as safe as paddling with a life jacket.

The original plan to have a kayak landing near Magnolia Springs needs to be put back in the plan or allow kayaks to access Three Sisters Springs. It would seem to me that kayaks would be more "manatee friendly' than swimmers.

Please - NO swimming. Paddle access should also be carefully controlledd as to time of day and season. Several other springs in this area have access and are not experiencing degradation. The manatee problem here is similar to the Weeki Wachee spring and they are controlling it.

No Swimmers if you truly want to protect the manatees. USFWS needs to be SMART for ALL The USFWS decision should take into account the danger of paddlers exiting their boats, swimming in 74 degree water and re entering their boat is not a good idea. Paddlers need a safe way to exit and re-enter their craft.
