GIRFEC - getting it right for every child. Authority failing in their duty/responsibility. It is all about money and budgets. Councillors/officials of Local Authorities need to be more open and honest about the cuts they are making instead of the double speak they regurgitate!!!

I think this move by the government is a disgrace and when they say that they are pledging millions into education I think it is a complete slap in the face of everyone who works so hard with these children

Before becoming a teacher I worked as a nursery nurses in special schools for many years. From both a teacher and nursery nurse perspective, the value of trained and experienced nursery nurses in these schools is invaluable. It is challenging enough meeting the needs of the individual pupils in he current situation, removing qualified staff and replacing them with unqualified staff will be to the extreme detriment of the pupils. Nursery nurses work far beyond their job description to ensure the pupils are receiving the quality education they deserve, this is not replaceable.

Before you cut the funding to the most vulnerable and the most needy, please find your cuts elsewhere first: try cutting the large salaries and huge pensions for council leaders: cut the massive pay-offs for the same council officials: cut the wasteful top heavy managerial structure inside the councils: support and force the government to make cuts in defense, especially to Trident. Kids first, not fat cats or bombs.

As a parent of a wee boy with DS I can whole heartedly say that the specialist staff at Pinewood do a fantastic job. My son has come in leaps and bounds since starting at the school.
This change all not only negatively impact the pupils, but the families, school staff and community as a whole.
This must not be allowed to happen.

Nursery Nurse's have worked in special education for many years, their skills and experience are incredibly valuable to the individual care and educational needs of the pupils. They support the teachers and are the backbone to the organisation and running of the schools. X
