We the undersigned indicate our support for and recommendation to keep the theater (formerly Camera 12) a movie and/or joint movie/entertainment venue for downtown residents.
This theater has served as an integral part of our cultural and entertainment life in downtown San Jose. As the only first-run theater in the central core of this city, it provides access to valuable opportunities not otherwise possible in our community, including the prestigious Cinequest film festival, which brings in critical revenue to local business and hotels every year.
We urge the City of San Jose and the County of Santa Clara to work with Forrest City Properties to actively seek out a new tenant that will maintain this facility as a movie theater and/or mixed entertainment venue.

I have officially requested a formal meeting with the city planning department to review the current zoning requirements for the theater site. My next step involves drafting a proposal that outlines how a mixed entertainment venue remains the most viable option for the downtown corridor.

The reach of this petition has hit a threshold that ensures city officials are now officially reviewing our proposal. I am currently coordinating a meeting with representatives from the planning department to discuss specific tenant requirements for the property.

Commercial rents are out of control. Camera theatres have been with downtown since downtown was a very very hard place to survive in. Other theatres failed in that space. We really need this local business, not a hulking big empty hangar
I would love to keep this theater around, as it is my favorite in San Jose. I frequent here a couple of times per month at least. I love it's central location and the fact that it has so many options in regards to movies. I'd hate to see it go.
San Jose definitely needs a downtown movie theater that shows mainstream movies! It's good for downtown residents, and it's good for businesses to get families (not just bar-hoppers) into the downtown area. I really enjoy(ed) being able to walk to a movies and I am very disappointed that Camera 12 has closed
I moved to downtown because I wanted to be able to walk to the theatres and entertainment such as the Camera 12. We need these type of places..not just bars.
A vital part of our downtown and major host of our world-renowned beloved Cinequest.

We need to save this very important resource in downtown. With all the high-rises coming online, the residents will need a neighborhood theater and now is not the time to lose it. It is also essential for Cinequest which is important for the local economy.
