The Planning Board withdrew Article 53 from the agenda this morning. We are shifting our focus to monitoring the upcoming land use review sessions to ensure these density changes do not reappear in future proposals.

Final supporters
The Planning board has submitted an article to rezone the unfinished lots in our neighborhood and beyond, 6 acres total from 20,000sf lots to 5000 sf lots. That is 6 acres of 12 1/2 acre lots, changed to 6 acres of FIFTY +/- lots!
On Evergreen, they are asking for 4 two acre lots to be changed from LUG-2 to R-10 which would be THIRTY +/- lots!
The proposed land use is simply too much. We've all seen the ruinous effects of packing them in and definitely don't want to see it in our neighborhood. Please sign our petition to oppose this article. We want to see better planning on our island!

The scale of this response is forcing the planning board to acknowledge our concerns. I am currently finalizing a formal letter to the zoning committee to ensure our opposition is entered into the official record.

Our island is running out of open land...yes, we need afforadable housing but this proposal packs home so tightly together and at such a high cost...End result if Nantucket people will be working for a roof over their head, not a life in a new home
This family neighborhood has the unique balance of space, economics & safety which should be replicated not ruined. At the very least the safety of the children must be considered.
It was not only the size and layout of the lots that drew us to this neighborhood, it was also that we had confidence that we understood what the future held as far as the completion of the development. The proposed changes have the potential to negatively impact everyone who has invested and built here. We strongly oppose Article 53
Too dense, we have zoning LAWS for good reason and they should be changed under dire circumstances only. 60 houses is not dire, it's greed pure and simple.

too many houses, too expensive, too much congestion already on old south road. Nantucket doesn't need another Essex Road.
