STEM education is vital to the US. Hands on is the best way to show science can be fun.

Kids love rockets. don't take away something that is real. Too many people today just have their face buried in a cell phone all day.

Model rocketry is one of the best STEM activities there is, and I've clearly seen the science and math benefits to my 2 kids from launching with them. Please reconsider - the loss from this will be invisible yet considerable.

I have a PhD in physics and an important part of that path was growing up with model rockets. Since then I have worked in the defense industry and for a NASA contractor. Now I teach future STEM professionals. In all cases model rocketry has proven to be a huge asset to our nation's tech future. Cutting out chances for children to experience this is extremely short sighted.

If it wasn't for events like this, I absolutely wouldn't have a 40 year career in aerospace at boeing. The benefits are unmatched.

Rocketry is one of the most safe family and educational activity that can happen in a park. There are almost no report accidents or injuries. Compare this to sports which every year has many thousands of report injuries, many quite serious and even permanent. Now I'm not suggesting the elimination of sports at parks, but if safety is a concern with the rocketry it's a not existing problem for rocketry run with basic safety precautions. The fire concern is another false concern. Low power launches using A-G are not a high fire risk with the launch pad merely 3 feet off the ground. More low power motors burnout in less than a second. But regardless, fireproof welding blankets can be used to protect the ground below the launcher. The National Assoiciation Rocketry (NAR) can provide grants to help clubs buys such added safety features to their launches. The noise concern is a further misnomer in that lower power launches produce less decibel on the ground then most cars. The noise level of a launch last only milliseconds. I truly question the seriousness of the noise complaints. Efforts to ban rocketry from this park is a direct effort to limit the parks participation in the education of our children. In a age with the United States falling behind the rest of the world in STEM education, rocketry can provide many of the main elements towards helping our children become the future scientist and engineers that we need. The parks attempt to band rocketry is counter to our efforts to provide educational experiences needed for the welfare of future generations.

This is so important for our young cub scouts who love launching rockets and learning about science and physics. Please let us continue to use then open space as responsible parents and kids.

Model rocketry builds America's future by educating the young people who will lead us into that future. Don't be shortsighted when preparing our kids.

Please reconsider your decision to stop model rocket launches at Bear Creek Lake Park. By removing the ability for individuals to safely launch model rockets under club supervision, you actually increase the danger you seek to mitigate by increasing the chances of rogue, unsupervised launches in the greater Denver Metro Area. The 30 year safety record of the local model rocket club launches should be evidence enough that the park has been and should continue to support this science and technology inspiring activity for our youth.

This is a very important idea for our kids. It teaches them engineering, math, physics. They learn how to overcome obstacles and think for themselves. It's also a lot of fun!
