There has recently been a petition going around saying that our mascot is "racist" and "offensive" towards Native Americans. Is a mascot a mocking of the thing it is portraying? When a school has a wolf, moose, or lion as their mascot, is it because that mascot is weak? No. These mascots portray good values, or beings. These mascots praise that creature or group or whatever the mascot is. You don't choose a mascot to make fun of it, you choose it to look up to. We look up to Native Americans due to their strength and ingenuity, their ability to survive and their magnificent culture. Last I checked, not a single Native American has complained about our school's mascot. We shouldn't give up our symbol of bravery and strength because a bunc of non-natives want to be offended FOR the Natives. Please support us by signing this petition!
