Dear Governor Sisolak,

Your compassion and vigilance during these unprecedented times has been incredibly reassuring. Thank you for being a leader who provides a voice for all of us on the national stage, and for talking to each Nevadan in our homes and on behalf of our businesses.

As a group of Las Vegas independent restaurateurs, we are writing to you out of a significant need and in solidarity. The hospitality industry defines our town and we are proud members of this community. Las Vegas is a global culinary destination that is second to none, and we want it to stay that way.

These past few weeks, our businesses have faithfully served thousands of guests who have come to show their love and support. Without immediate action taken by your office we will not survive this crisis. Let us be clear, we fully support closures as necessary to prevent and combat the spread of COVID-19, and we are grateful to you and your office for tirelessly working towards the most appropriate solutions and are committed to following all mandates.

We can think of no better advocate for our collective cause.

We suggest that you become the voice of the restaurant and hospitality industry in securing the necessary assistance from Washington D.C., for an immediate action plan to ensure restaurants and small businesses are adequately provided for. While we are confident that your office will help our industry reach both the House and Senate, a few ideas for immediate relief we discussed would include:

• Emergency unemployment benefits to all impacted employees;
• Tax credit for maintaining employee health benefits;
• Incentivizing rent and loan abatement;
• Eliminating payroll taxes;
• Foregoing state sales tax collections immediately;

Without an effective advocate, we will not survive this crisis. We humbly request immediate action from your office, so we can form a long-term plan to operate our businesses and inform our employees they have a secure future.

We realize the significant challenge and complexities of what we are requesting. You have the authority, passion and capability to help those in need. We trust you to take these necessary measures and to do what is right for our industry, for its people, for the city of Las Vegas and the state of Nevada.
