Save our hedge

Please keep the hedge as it is!

I would like to know how exactly this is obstructing the pathway!! I have walked this pavement and have a different opinion obviously. Surely there are more issues the council needs to be sorting out!!

This well-tended hedge in a prominent position enhances the visual appeal of the neighbourhood in which it sits. More importantly, it is home to myriad birds and shelters (legally protected) hedgehogs. To destroy it would be an act of vandalism.

This hedge is well kept and allows birds to nest regularly. It does not appear to be causing an issue to those of us that regularly use the footpath in front of the hedge. I do not see why this is causing the council an issue!

There are plenty of similar instances of slightly overhanging bushes and hedges which cause no detriment to footway users. Hopefully common sense will prevail to avoid the destruction of a beautiful hedge .

It's a good hedge. It would be a shame to ruin it .

An environmental impact assessment, for the nesting birds and wildlife should support the hedge staying in it’s current maintained state

As a local and a gardener who drives past and admires this beautiful natural screen and habitat for nature id much rather look at a living screen that a fence or butchered conifer hedge. this in my opinion is one of those times to make a sensible decision rather than forcing a family to desicrate a local landmark in the community. Have some decorum people please

This is crazy. It will clearly affect the health of the hedge, adversely affect wildlife, and likely die. We don't want to see a fence there!!

It would be such a shame to loose this lovely hedge, for both the wildlife and the attractiveness of the neighbourhood.

Unnecessary to take away the hedge and waste of resources. It is well maintained.

Hiltingbury area, I walk past the hedge every week

This hedge is a local landmark and environmental resource. Loss of such hedges affects biodiversity and this should be avoided. The path is still passable and the landowner keeps the hedge in good condition. I support the request to leave it and find an alternative solution to its total removal.

To damage an established hedge by harsh cutting back is unnecessary in that location where the pavement is not in frequent or heavy use. Too many hedges in Hiltingbury have been replaced by fences which is unsightly and harmful to wildlife including nesting birds.
