It would not be fair to the students to cancel this program. Many need this type of program.

It is very important to keep this program for those students who do not excel in other areas.

Surely another solution can be reached. The world needs the arts.

I have a daughter who is in grade 7. She saw 2 pre-Covid Theatre Norwell productions. We just saw Beauty and The Beast. As an artistic student she has been so inspired by the quality of these productions that she wants to apply to the program in Grade 9. Please do not cut this program!!!!

The Arts give students opportunities to explore the beauty of our world and to personally give back through their own creativity.

Very important to keep a drama class for Grade 9's. It's an Arts program which kids can excel at.

Undervaluing Arts programs demonstrates lack of vision and is a destructive force in public education. Theatre Norwell is unique in a small community like Palmerston and a treasure for a School Board like Upper Grand. It is unfortunate that a self sustaining program such as this is threatened by its own administration at a school and board level. Wake up UGDSB!

I am working in the live events industry because of my time spent doing theatre at Norwell. These types of courses are so important to the creative and live events industry to introduce students to the many ways they can be creative and have a career in the arts.

The arts are vitally important. This is how we historically define the world we live in to preserve it for generations to come.

I drove from Peterborough to see Chloe participate in the Beauty and the Beast musical. It was amazing! Clearly, it was a way to engage students, enrich their lives, aid in their maturity, teamwork, responsibility, artistic expression……I am so thankful we drove so far! Do not take away this program. This is a critical program for students mental health as well.

Shame on you for cutting this. You wouldn't cut the hockey team, but typically the kids who want more can go jump in a lake, eh? Sooooooo glad I left.

This course will help these young adults gain public speaking and personal confidence as they persue adulthood.

Why would you take this away? With all the mental health issues out there today! These are the kind of programs that saves lives, and makes life worth living.

My daughter was in the first group of app students. I can tell you I’m made a huge difference in her highschool experience. She won the music theatre teacher of the year award in waterloo in 2022 and continues to work in the arts part time. She’s just finished university and there are so many transitional skills she learned through the program as a grade 9 student as well as a student teacher in grade 12.
