Save Our Gary

That pig is family. Not just an animal. Good Luck!

The town doesn't get to decide what a family pet is or isn't if it's well cared for. Give Gary back.

Silly law, pigs are more intelligent than dogs. Support pigs are common in many places. Just like Oakville to leverage a law from over 50 years ago.

Therapeutic pets were not in legislation in the 1960's - times have changed. Gary is not the same as a farm animal pig. He is a vital member of this family and us loved.

There is no reason in my mind that Gary shouldn't be considered a pet. The family that owns Gary needs him, Gary helps them with what ever they need Gary for. Gary is just like a cat or a dog so please don't take Gary away from this family.

Dear Town of Oakville, your definition of a "livable" town should include allowing service animals and therapy animals in their many forms. I hope you will reconsider changing this bylaw, and in the short term allowing this family to reconnect with their beloved and needed pet.

Please make changes to allow therapy animals other than cats and dogs! Gary deserves to be with his family in his HOME

Gary is a sweet Pig! She lives on my block and wouldn't hurt a flea. Please bring her home!!! Pigs are just as if not smarter than dogs and if she's a therapy animal than this is plain wrong.

Let him go home.

Absolutely he should get an exemption! There is absolutely no harm for a sweet little pig to live in a loving home. I hope he can go back home!

This situation is deplorable. A dog, cat, fish, pig, mouse, rat, hamster, or horse if okay to be in the home as pets by the persons living there should be allowed by the city. So long as the living conditions are clean and sanitary for the humans and animals there should be no problem. Classifying this working, therapy piglet as a "farm animal" based only on the type of animal is ridiculous. If that is the basis for classification then sometimes cats, dogs, mice and rats are found on farms and should also be classified as farm animals. This piglet has been a member of their family and an integral part of their daughter's well being. Not making exception to this rule for a therapy animal is the same as not allowing her medical attention. This decision needs to be rethought.

Laws, like language, are meant to be a living reflection of the needs of their users. This breed of pig should not be considered in the same category as farm animals. The fact that Gary is a therapy animal is causing undue stress upon two members of this household and on Gary herself. Please return this pet to her family as soon as possible. Thank you for your consideration.

Therapy animals are extraordinarily important - shocked and distressed that they get no recognition! Hope Gary returns to you soon.
