The powers that be at Murdochs new Fiona Stanley Hospital have decided that there's no need forour Specialists nurses . Apparently the Drs will be dealing with it all and well we all know how hard it is dealing with Crohns, and other IB diseases let alone trying to maintain contact with a Doctor. We need the power of social media to weigh heavily down on these pen pushers. please share with friends and family as most of us either know of someone with or suffer ourselves with IB issues !!!

I am still reading through the personal stories you have been sharing in the comments and it is becoming clear just how much these nurses mean to so many of us. I honestly never thought this would reach so many people but I am truly humbled to see that this is something we all care about together.

I am truly overwhelmed by the momentum behind this because I never imagined so many people would care about our nurses. This outcome belongs entirely to you and your willingness to speak up for those who keep our clinic running.

I don't know what I would have done without my Crohn's nurse. It is such a horrendous disease to come to terms with and cope with. As a mother with two children, I was often in need of the support these nurses give. Doctors are fabulous, but they don't have the time to help with the reality of living with the disiease. Please don't do away with this very much needed service. Please! Please! Please!

The IBD nurses at Fremantle Hospital are so knowledgeable and supportive to people with IBD. Their care made me feel stable in a highly stressful period in my life.

Specialist IBD nurses are crucial for IBD patients to receive the advice they need when their specialists are unavailable. They play a vital role and ultimately save the hospital system time and money by giving patients accurate advice on how to treat their condition so that these patients do not automatically go to Emergency for treatment.

My son attends the Fremantle clinic with crohns the nurses are fantastic and free up the doctors for serious cases the nurses are great to call up to ask questions as we live in busselton and do not have the specialists down here the nurses take the pressure of the doctors and if there is something they arnt sure about they get back to you as soon as they find out

There is no way the doctors alone can manage all the IBD patients that will come through the clinics. it is extremely reassuring to know there are nurses you can call or email and get a response from that day. especially in the early days of diagnosis. The nurses are the ones that ensure you get new scripts when you need them. it would be near impossible for it to be anywhere near as easy to maintain appropriate continuation of care if tge nurses from Fremantle hospital do not make the move to Fiona Stanley with the doctors.

Please keep my nurses, its hard enough coping with such a debilitating and invasive disease without having specialist nurses to talk to and be advised by.

Its a sad state of affairs that it's come to this, having to get people to sign a petition. Disgraceful!!
