(Save OUR Fish) Cormorant Population Control needed throughout the U.S.

To whom it may concern: I’m a born Michigander who’s travelled North America for close to 6 years for work comprising close to 200-250k skymiles each year while still holding my passion for being on the water and fishing and creating memories along the way. This said, my opinion, it would be unjust to not support the petition to manage these birds. As a FL resident and back to my home state of MI, the increase of these birds, albeit climate, nature, or for just the sake of these birds not being managed, I specifically can speak to many of the 100 days straight during the summer of 2019 fishing every day out of Holland, MI, the occurrence of these birds flocking, swimming and diving all around not only the fishing grounds, but also the traveling to and from, these birds have showed me many things. First and foremost, they are expert hunters, specifically to fresh water. I would relate them to the Warbird( aka The Frigate) of the Salt Water minus the fact this bird dives and eats more then any other bird I’ve witnessed. Including pelicans. Warbirds do not. However, Michigan is fresh water and in all respect to follow birds to find fish as most would do, the theory to go to the spot to fish where you know the fish live only to share it, not with other anglers, but with diving, foraging comma-rants who are decimating the perch schools that seem to only randomly show up to these spots. Now I’m not saying they have destroyed the fishing grounds completely, I’m clearly stating that almost every occasion in trips from last year alone, these birds have camped on the shores, pier heads and channels as they continue to devour fish every day in the masses to the extent that it’s very easy to find where the fish are. Follow the comma-rants. However, what you will witness is not fish on the end of your line when you get there. You witness bird after bird not only on the surface gulping a 12 inch perch, but you can also watch them swim 20 ft down on your Garmin Livescope cha

Im not very good at this but here I go. Something needs to be done about the population of these birds. They consume way more fish than we as fishermen can catch and eat. If we have any chance of a healthy perch population for the next generations to enjoy in the Saginaw bay and other waters we need to handle this now! Wouldn't be fair to them not yo enjoy the fishery we had while growing up.

We need population control badly on Lake Erie. They are very hard on our steelhead smolts
