Three members of the Long Beach City Council, a majority, are leaning towards defunding the Farmers Market or restricting it to the point where it is destined to fail. We, the undersigned, support councilmembers Mark Perez and Del Murry in their fight to continue funding for the Farmers Market and their use of food vendors (like the Kite Festival does). We support our Farmers Market as a community treasure and an American tradition.

ive been spending my mornings at the market talking to vendors who are honestly terrified about what the city might do. hearing their stories just reminds me why we have to keep pushing back against this plan. i have a call with perezs office later today and ill let you know if we get any real answers.

i cannot believe how much momentum we have right now and it is all because of you showing up for our market. this really shows that the city council cant just write us off like we dont exist.

The farmers market is an example of the direction that sustainable tourism and agriculture can go hand in hand. it benefits the whole community and it was be a loss to loss it

Three hours on a Friday afternoon, once a week....isn't going to hurt anyone's business in Long Beach. We need to support our local farmers who are growing REAL food! They aren't getting wealthy and it's obviously their passion that drives them to do what they do, rather than the dollar.

I need the Farmers Market it is a very important factor in keeping my health as a outlet for fresh healthy veg's ,exercise and social community well being interaction. It would create a hardship for me to go alas where .

I'm a coast guard member that lives in Ilwaco this is the high light of my 2 and 3 year olds week they love to ride in the wagon to the market and when we have family come to town we can't wait to take them!

I have been a vendor at the farmers market for the last 5 years, and have enjoyed dealing with all my local and tourist customers. I hope that the city will allow the market to continue for the sake of our loyal costumers. Everyone needs fresh produce to continue to live healthily. Thank you, Josie Ciambetti

I travel 2 hrs down n 2 hrs home every Friday to attend this market! It's filled with tons of fun, laughter and quality vendors! It's a tiny market but its heart is huge! We all love Katie, she's wonderful!

I say keep it. But is it not self sufficient? The Ilwaco Saturday Market actually makes money, why can't the Farmers Market?

I simply do not believe that these vendors compete with downtown businesses. Where is the proof? !
