I used to love to go paddling there as a kid, way before it got modernised in 2006; I went there from 1999 to 2001 with my mum, and I remember that a small part of the paddling pool went under the rocks (that's the cave part), there was an ice cream van parked outside throughout the high summer and I also remember lots of mostly silly children climbing on the fountain to get into the well parts of it and splashing about in there and throwing large amounts of water out of it and I thought that you could actually be allowed to do that (I did try to do it when I was 4, but I got stopped), but they did eventually put a sign on the fountain in 2001 or 2002 to say that climbing on the fountain is strictly prohibited. Since they did that, not many children tried climbing on the fountain. I wouldn't want the Fairy Dell paddling pool to close down, because I think that's what draws in people the most in its surrounding gardens, boat lakes and duck ponds that you have to walk through to get there.
