It is disgusting and unlawful that the council is not fulfilling their obligations to the welfare of the pound animals. Would they say it's ok if I didn't pay my rates bill because I needed to get my van fixed, as they have said there is no money to pay anyone to walk the dogs........yet they can give the Kerikeri Retirement Village a grant of tens of thousands of dollars to gift them some land......outrageous

I really hope changes r made theres no way that dogs or actually any animal deserves to be treated horribly :( thats so unfair and inhumane, too many innocent dogs get pts that definitely is wrong they didnt ask to be brought into this world so y should they suffer or have to die:( its time humans stop being cruel murderers and every shelter should be no kill wake up have a heart realise also animals have feelings too, it makes me so angry and so upset how they r treated its bloody disgusting, i actually hate some humans because the way they treats animals :( :( :(

The law provides a framework of minimum standards that all organisations and individuals have to adhere to. It is the basis of our civilised life. For a council to be breaking the law for years is not only apalling, but it sends a message throughout the community that the law is not to be taken seriously. That this particular law ensures that dogs are to be kept in a way that is not cruel or sociopathic makies the flouting of this law even more horrific. Get your act together, and make no more excuses.
