We get into trouble for non compliance. The council is the first one to jump on us. They are not above the law and must be held accountable.

I am sickened at what I am reading . But what is so sickening is it comes as no surprise that yet another council is failing in the discharge of its duties and racking up animal welfare offenses and flouting the law with no consequences for their actions. This pound needs to be taken over by a spca/MPI approved body to protect these dogs from the ongoing mismanagement and cruelty they have encountered at the hands of the northland council. I also call for the council to be prosecuted under the Animal Welfare Act and its codes of welfare. Councils are not gods and should not be able/allowed to hide behind red tape and held accountable for their mismanagement and cruelty.
