We have loved Shevlin Park for a very long time. The Covered Bridge is part of the Parks charm. We want to SAVE it !! Bend Parks and Rec says it's structurely unsound....so please FIX it and not tear it down.
Is there money in Parks and Rec ?? Do we need a Go Fund Me page ??

The scale of this response has provided the leverage needed to secure a formal meeting with the district director next week. I am currently compiling the technical questions residents have submitted regarding the structural assessment to present during that discussion.

though I am not near, I come to walk this bridge....as do many others. please maintain history; don't destroy it.
The Covered Bridge in Shevlin Park is a reflection of Bend's history. It is a landmark, something people connect with over and over again when they visit Shevlin Park. Parks and Rec spends huge amounts of money on sports complexes, etc. Now, it's time to spend some money on this bridge, a landmark that represents a simpler side of life. Less glitz, more heart. Please find the money (in your budget), not from a special appeal fundraiser that generates donations from the public. Please do so NOW! Thank you! ~Bruce Jackson~
Please save this little bridge! I grew up training for cross country in this park as well as taking hikes/walks with my family. We love this bridge! Please fix it--don't tear it down!
Please, please restore our historical monument? Please keep the memories that we all have of the walks with our family's over it and taking family photos! May we please restore it? Even myself would make a contribution and donate wood to help keep and restore it! Thank you for taking the time to allow me to try to save our memorable covered footbridge. Unbelievable that you would even consider tearing this down! Old covered bridges bring so much quiet joy to people taking time to slow down their busy lives!!

Let's keep the history of our town and the beauty and memories it supplies to all of us. No tearing down , only rebuilding and making it safe. Please Parks and Rec. WE need you to hear us. No TEAR DOWNS.
