Having a keen interest in sport I believe everything should be done to maintain and promote the use of these courts. They have and do provide year round complementary sporting activities to those on offer in Caldicot by providing first class squash and racketball facilities to the local and wider community of Caldicot.
I firmly believe the community and its future generations will benefit from the maintenance of these facilities for racket sports.
I urge the Local Authority to reconsider their current proposal to ensure these courts are maintained for the use of everyone in the community.

I play here regularly with my father-in-law and would have to travel to Cardiff to play which is just not realistic.

Used to play squash at Underwood; it shut so moved to play squash at Spytty; it shut so moved to play squash at Caldicot. There is nowhere left to move! Councillors, how about maintaining leisure facilities? If you do this people are less likely to park their backsides on their settees and so are less likely to require remedial healthcare, which is mainly provided at the cost of the taxpayers that fund local government.

The area has already lost the courts (and leisure centre) in Underwood. This is such a shortsighted "cost saving".

Closing the only courts for miles around would be an exclusionist act impacting on a wide range of people of varying ages and demographics. The council have a responsibility to provide facilities for all share holders (taxpayers).

Access to sport for all regardless of personal wealth is what council facilities were created for. If you have money you can access squash via private clubs(newport) if your in a lower wage bracket you are left with no options. SAVE the courts!!! for the benefit of those playing now and for the young people of caldicot who will want to play squash in the future.

It would be a great shame to lose the courts at Caldicot. There are two great teams, where are they supposed to play? The nearest would be Newport or Monmouth, hardly local.

I’m shocked they are even considering closing these courts that are widely used. This needs to be prevented and sent to local councillors.

In a time when the government is saying, people need to be encouraged to take up more varied physical activities, It seems counter productive that the local authority goes against government advise and shut the only squash courts for miles around.
keep the squash courts at Caldicot for the present and future generations.

Great courts, really popular. 30 minutes away to nearest one so won’t be able to play as often if these courts shut.

Don’t get rid of these courts. Chepstow doesn’t have this facility and I can’t even think where the nearest place to play would be. Monmouth!? B***h please

The loss of courts takes away a sport for all ages and abilities, as well as denying the opportunity for future generations.

Monmouthshire Council should be adding, not removing, sports facilities such as these squash courts.

Spent over a decade playing on these courts growing up. Have met load of people both young and old through the squash community which has helped me in life today. Also gave me the opportunity to help the younger generation by increasing their knowledge of the sport.
