As you can see by all the comments, this is a mistake and will have a long-term negative impact to the program and to students who have aspirations of a musical career. Mistakes can be corrected.

These institutions are well worth saving; if they go, we will eventually have to rebuild them and start over. It is far better to invest in their continuation.

Save the Mount Royal Conservatory. It has has produced some great musicians and composers. There are very few places like it in Canada.

It is with deep sadness as an Albertan that I am adding my name to this petition.
The Conservatory at Mount Royal University took decades to build, decades of passion, tenacity, patience and love and unfortunately with just a few misguided decisions is now in danger of collapsing in very short order. The world is watching and knows very well that John Kadz and Bill van der Sloot have been central to the Conservatory's growth and international reputation. I urge the board of governors of Mount Royal University to look very carefully at the consequences of their decisions as I am sure none want the demise of such a world renowned and loved school of music to be part of their legacy.

The Mount Royal Conservatory has been a Canadian leader in pre-university performance training. Its Academy program is second to none and has trained countless musicians now making significant contributions on the local, national and international stage. Bill van der Sloot and John Kadz are internationally respected pedagogues. Mount Royal Conservatory is a jewel. Do not destroy it!!! Many of Canada's most productive and influential musicians, whether performers, teachers, music therapists, or arts administrators, came from Mount Royal. Please do everything you can to stop the closure of this excellent training facility.

I am a professional violinist/musician who grew up taking lessons from Mr. Bill van der Sloot. I also have been taught by Mr. Kadz in a lessor manner. Mr. van der Sloot's teachings were very important in not just classical music but helping my musical career bloom in many areas. You are moving backwards in time by terminating there positions. If you want your University/city to be a special city why are you terminating world class teachers?

I was also a graduate of this amazing program...my experience there has impacted my life even now, 30 years later. Messrs. Kadz, Dornian and Nadler were integral parts of the Academy program back when I attended and I can't imagine why they, along with the other strong administration members are being terminated. A program like this cannot succeed with experienced, dedicated leaders.
