The cone on top of the Duke of Wellington, outside the Gallery of Modern Art, is a famous Glasgow landmark & represents the very best of the city's civic space. Some speculate that it raises vast sums of money for Glasgow's tourism industry. But today (11/11/13), city councilors described the cone as a "depressing image" and complained for the cost of removing it. They then demanded that the height of the statue should be increased, in order to stop any further attempts of "vandalism". This has been estimated to cost around £65,000. We have a radical idea: leave our cone alone. Let's stop this bureaucratic malarkey, let's stand up to these fascist dictators and let's cherish the cone we call our own.
