Final supporters
The English Martyrs Parish Centre, Whalley Range, Manchester has been serving the local community for nearly half a century. Built by the people for the people, it has served many generations and evolved into a diverse and popular venue with all sections of the community.
Erected in 1973 as the Parish Centre of the English Martyrs church, 'The Club' catered for the needs of several local schools, and was the heartbeat of a vibrant Catholic community. As its popularity grew, it became home to many local groups including several of the Irish associations dotted around Manchester.
Whether attending a live music night, a bingo session or a birthday, engagement or wedding party, the club has welcomed thousands of folk throughout the years.
The club has played host to countless charity events enabling good causes such as The Christie hospital, St Annes Hospice, Alziemers Society to raise £10,000's for good causes.
Alas, this will all end very soon as the Salford Diocese has decided to close our Club.

This will be a tragedy if this is allowed to happen. Can't believe that the Diocese seems to care so little about the long standing Irish Catholic community it is supposed to support who have always devoutly served the church . Shameful!
I'm sure the diocese could be more creative and actually make this work to meet the needs of people in the Parish and the community meeting a range of needs and services and putting back into the parish.
Been going here since a young child with my grandad an his friends, It’s a place where people get to meet an spend timeTogether , if it wasn't there they would t get to do that!! An probs never see each other again which is quite sad.
I pretty much grew up in this place since my dad has tended bar there for almost 30 years, please save this place. For Dave, Sharon, Sheila, Tom and many other wonderful people I had the pleasure of getting to know.
Great memories held in this club, in particular Cora’s Charity Caper that we did and raised a huge amount for Christie’s. So many charity events have been carried out here and a phenomenal amount of fund raising has been done over the years. Would be such a shame to see this go

Please dont let this club close it has been a vibrant part of the community for many years if it is allowed to close parishioners of the church may go nearer home worship causing decline to the parish I have seen it happening before to st wilfreds in hulme
