Save our Children’s Mercy PICU Physicians

I know 2 families who have personal benefited from their services, and both families saw this team as a God send.

I worked at CMH for 25 years in both the NICU and OR! It greatly saddens me that they are choosing to put money first before fellowship trained pediatric anesthesia and intensivists. The children don’t deserve this and you won’t maintain your national quality care ratings by eliminating them.

Please reconsider! Many children and families need you

The pediatric Anesthesiologists and PICU physicians that work at CMH are immeasurably valuable. To lose one of their ranks and possibly have to replace them with a lesser trained professional would be unconscionable. The lives of the children at CMH depend on the right decision.

Our physicians are the best!

I hope they reverse this decision!

I trained with these physicians as an anesthesia resident at KU. They are a top notch group and they gave me the highest quality of education. It would be a huge loss to Kansas City and to the medical school and residency training programs in the area should these physicians be replaced.

We also had a very long PICU stay and I credit the team with getting her home to spend her final 3 months with us. I certainly hope these doctors can renegotiate their contracts.

The sickest children and their families count on the brilliant and EXPERIENCED AAKC PICU team, to save lives! To replace them with Doctors and Anesthesiologists with little or no experience would be a disaster. It will certainly lower Children's Mercy Hospital's quality of care and top rating as a Children's Hospital. Big Mistake!!

Our children are our future. They and their families depend on the best care that includes a seasoned, experienced medical team.

These pediatric anesthesiologists and PICU physicians are irreplaceable and integral to the operations, mission and values of CMH. It would be devastating to lose even one during this process.

My son spent nearly a month in CMH 's PICU 12 years ago due to complications related to RSV. I cannot say enough amazing things about the care he received during this time. From words of encouragement when I ran into one in the cafeteria to putting orders for me to hold him for the first time in 3 weeks, they supported me during the most stressful and terrifying time. I have always said as scary of an experience we had, I would trust the PICU staff with the lives of my children without question.

CMH PICU doctors are the best!!!

The quality of any hospital is directly related to the high level of expertise , education of its physician staff and nursing . PICU is critical & essential .

Experience is worth any investment!!

Kansas City and the region needs this exceptional group of amazing physicians. They have saved so many lives and I can’t imagine CMH without them. I used to work in the PICU with them and I would trust this group of physicians with my children’s lives. I would not have the same sentiment with a brand new team of physicians. Also, can’t pick a more terrible time to end their contract in the middle of flu and RSV season + a pandemic. These physicians have dedicated their lives working tireless hours making the hardest decisions to save our children. This is such a disappointment.

Please save all the amazing PICU doctors at children’s mercy. If a these doctors leave I will not take my child to Children’s mercy for treatment!!

Please think about the kids - NOT money!! The original founders of Mercy said they would care for any child, no matter if they could pay. KC still supports you in this mission...don’t let us down!!
