Save Our Bluffton Turkeys

It is too bad that this "emergency" action had to take place so quickly and wait for the Jan. 16th general meeting.

Poisonous snakes are much more dangerous. Please remove them first if you need a hit list for wildlife!

Don't hurt our funny turkeys

Rounding up helpless turkeys in the middle of the night when they have done nothing wrong is basically replicating the behaviors of Nazi soldiers in WWII Germany except with birds.

Terrible for the turkey and even worse for tax payers. What a waste of our tax dollars!

This is just sad they are doing this!! The people complaining need to move somewhere else where there is no wildlife.

I AGREE 100% My wife and I were really upset when we found out they were taking away our back yard visitors and killing them!

These turkeys are harmless and peaceful. I have walked within a foot of them and they have never caused any harm.

We have lived here 15 years and enjoy watching thes beauiful birds come walking across are yard they are apart of the reason we live in the low country close to nature .Tell the DNR to leave are plantation and leave are turkeys alone !!!!!!

I have even offered my farm in Jasper County to hve the turkeys relocated, but the DNR declined. First they siad Duffuskie was their new home, and two days ago i made the second offer.

This problem is entirely the fault of residents in the Crescent who illegally have insisted on feeding the turkeys. They are now not considered "wild" turkeys and are fearless. They have caused damage to cars and property. The people feeding these animals are the criminals--and some have actually had a photo of them feeding published in the Packet.

I find it unfortunate that those who are not property owners in The Crescent are signing a petition regarding something which has no impact on their homes and yards. If you don't live here, it isn't any of your business.

I think protecting our wildlife is a community issue. :) However, the true decision, of course, lies with the property owners and will be discussed the 17th.

To feed a bird - I have been doing this for 57 years. I can go to Lowes, Home Depot or Wal-Mart and obtain all of the supplies necessary. To those who state that feed birds is criminal, inclusive of such a Marxist statement, who have to include the legal sources for the food and feeding apparatuses. If bird feed is legal to sell, it is legal to feed to the birds. We have an political atmosphere of total mistrust for authority, since all our leader do is lied to us. The crescent has lied to us concerning everything about the turkeys - total frauds. There has been zero discussions of honesty as to the disposition of the turkeys. Absent of honesty is rebellion. There would be no petition, no front page articles if the Crescent management would have fully disclosed all facts, although unsubstantiated, absent of any imperial tests. What about the alligators and turtles = they are all gone - has anyone noticed our natural resources are disappearing? If reasons are provided, proof of the reasons, and dialog prior to removal of the turkeys, I very much doubt there would be any discussion. And for people that feed birds being criminal -

Mrs. Rossi, I am asking you because your husband was the heart and soul of the security committee. Was there any determination as to the appropriate level of the turkey population. I've heard several residents say that we had more turkeys than the land could support. I am curious as to whether that is true or conjecture. I'd also like to know what level of investigation about the community's feelings was undertaken prior to the decision to remove and destroy the turkeys.
