People are too sensitive. I had him Spring 2014 for a class and I enjoyed it and ended up with an A after thinking I would fail. Smart, very intelligent and confident professor.

Dr. Vance Lewis is one of those teachers that I will forever remember. His style may not be orthodox but in order to get the message through sometimes you need to deviate from the most walked path.
It saddens me that there are students out there who could not have the option to take him and take part in what I feel was a great milestone in my education. This would be a missed opportunity right when people like us needed it the most.
I am incredibly shocked that this is even at question, if I wanted another professor to make me regurgitate information I would have stayed in high school.

There's nothing wrong with having high standards. We are in business school, we should have high standards instead of being lousy. What Dr Lewis does is to prepare you for the real world, push yourself to a better level. Otherwise, no matter what all those magazines rank us, we can never catch up.
I truly respect Dr Lewis and his teach method. His class is one of the best classes I've taken. We need more teachers like him to shape up those butthurt students who don't even have a standard to strive for.

Vance Lewis is absolutely incredible and by far my favorite professor I have ever had in the School of Management at UT Dallas. His methods of teaching are by far the best because he engages the classroom. I truly respect this man. He always says hello to his past students in the halls and has a friendly personality. I am very proud to have been his student in Organizational Behavior class, and I use the project from that class on my professional portfolio. This professor has made the subject matter so interesting that I went on to do my own further research on the readings for fun.
Let Professor Vance Lewis stay!

My name is Chad and I had the privilege of studying under Dr. Lewis at Oklahoma State University. Dr. Lewis taught me in a business administration capstone course while I worked towards my international business degree. After wrestling at OSU for two years, I decided to hang up my wrestling shoes and enter into the business realm. By my senior year, I owned two companies. Under Dr. Lewis tutelage I was able to grasp aspects of business that I had never even considered. Dr. Lewis' business administration course was one of the only courses that I genuinely enjoyed attending in all of my academic career. His course was the only one that I actually learned something pertaining to the actual business world outside of vocabulary/definitions. I was perplexed to hear that UT Dallas would even consider releasing an asset like Dr. Lewis. Not only was he my professor, he was also a role model in how passionate he was about education. I knew that if I could put my heart into something as much as he puts his heart into his students I knew I would succeed with ease. I'm not sure how much this letter will do but I at the least want to let UT Dallas know about the direct impact Dr. Lewis' had on my life and molding me into the father and business man I am today. Thank you UT Dallas for your time and consideration but more importantly, thank you, Dr. Lewis.

Dr. Lewis was one of the very few educators who made a positive impact in my life. I have suffered and paid for countless professors who do nothing but have us memorize bland theories that have nothing to do with anything in the real workplace. Dr.Lewis is the ONLY professor that attempted to prepare us for the harsh realities of the REAL workplace. Sure he can be harsh at times but the "high school 2.0" mindset that transfer community college students come here with (including myself at the time) has to be wiped out. We must end this everyone gets a trophy mindset! I digress...
Dr. Lewis pushed me to declare a concentration and get on a career path. He pushed me to my best and to think outside the box, something that is helping me immensely as i get ready to graduate and need to decide what field to pursue. He has made great strides in the BSBA program as well as the OBHR program. He cares for and mentors his students when many JSOM professors have the bare minimum office hours.
Please stop playing dirty politics and do whats best for the school- Having professors who truly prepare the next generation.
It is sad that the JSOM leaders are more focused on bulls**t magazine ratings to attract deep pocketed students to campus so you can buy shiny new stuff. Such is education these days...
