The 2020-2021 Bellevue College Services and Activities Committee must stop defunding vibrant student led programs. Bellevue College is home to a strong community of student led programs, and without proper funding the students of Bellevue College will be stripped of opportunities to excel beyond the classroom. During these unprecedented times, proper funding is essential to keep student led programs active. The committee has decided to cut S&A funding for vital co-curricular activities when the funding is needed the most, which include faculty/advisor stipends. The involvement of faculty/advisor is essential to the continuity and success of student led programs.

This decision to defund student led programs is not supported by the students. Recent actions by the committee have jeopardized student led programs into possibly being discontinued. These actions do not represent what the students want. Drastically decreasing funding for student led programs is not in the best interest of Bellevue College’s student body, nor does it accurately represent the student body’s opinion.

This impacts student led clubs such as the following: Business Leadership Community, music, arts, cultural, and writing.

Our goal as student led programs is to create an inclusive and friendly environment on campus filled with opportunities, and with the recent actions of the committee-- we are restricted in doing so.
