The Army Corps of Engineers confirmed today that the perpetual easement for Parcel B will remain in place for recreational use and emergency protection. We successfully held them to the original 1963 terms. I will monitor the upcoming harbor dredging projects to ensure contract compliance.

1. All City and State land on the East Pass and the Destin Harbor, along with the privately owned Parcel B (#00-2S-24-0000-002-000A, USACOE perpetual easement listed as 101-E-6), remain for recreational use as they have been since 1963, and
2. The US Army Corps of Engineers maintain the existing perpetual easement to all of Parcel B abutting or nearby our properties. This federal perpetual easement is for emergency protection of our property, as well as, dredging and securing the Jetties of East Pass, Holiday Isle and Destin Harbor as it has been since 1963.

We are approaching one hundred signatures which is the threshold required to trigger a formal review by the Destin city planning office. Please help us reach this count immediately so we can present a unified position to the Army Corps of Engineers representatives.

I see a future nightmare of Destin expenses to save their property due to sand loss
We purchased our condo in Destin Pointe 14 years ago because of the view and the quality of the community, with the expectation and assurance that it would not change. Construction on Parcel B would forever change that if it is allowed to happen. We also have concerns about protecting the wildlife as well. That's why we are opposed.
Development of this land would greatly change the landscape of this popular area. People traveling into Destin want to see beaches and the beautiful water from the mouth of the Bay. Building on this site will block the view for a large section of the area similar to what happened when the city allowed the Emerald Grand to be built. When crossing over the bridge from Okaloosa Island the waterway and beach are the first thing people see! People boat and fish on the banks of this are which will be lost should a development occur.
The need to save our beaches cannot be overstated. Holiday Isle infrastructure cannot absorb any additional stress resultant from continued overdevelopment.
