Save Our Basin View Centre

This is very important part of the community. Please save!!?

We need to save our community and work on making it right...

Many of us who have moved here, did so because of the YMCA and the grocery store and the reasonable cost of living. My husband and I were recruits here in 1984, so we also appreciate the value of this building to the many veterans who have gone through here. There are many veterans living in the area - many who need the pools and other facilities for very specific physiotherapy, as well as for their social well-being. Many people move to Cornwallis Park, because of the facilities for their children, whether it be the school or the YMCA. Several people in the area do not drive and value being able to go to the grocery store and the post office on foot, as the bus only runs every two hours in this area, which greatly restricts the movement of many people. Plus, you can't expect someone to take the bus all the way to Annapolis Royal or Digby to get their groceries. At the valley girl I've seen many businesses open and close and Cornwallis politics on the way As a "Valley girl", I have seen many businesses open and close in Cornwallis. Politics got in the way of the Base closing. Money gets in the way of a lot of resources being lost, but we pay high taxes in Annapolis County and we expect to live in a healthy environment, both physically and mentally. As someone who has been instructed by my doctors to do specific exercises due to injuries, I need to be in the water. I understand that there are concerns about the building that could cost a lot of money to fix, but I have also heard in the community that those outer walls should not have been built where they were, because of soil instability. They were warned years ago, yet they built there. When I was volunteering at the High River, Alberta, floods, I was told that the indigenous people warned not to build a community there, because of flooding, but sometimes people don't listen and the inevitable happens - and the losses total in the millions of dollars and sometimes death. The loss of basin view center would be a great loss. So many people rely on center to maintain a healthy life. Esp our older folks

Our small communities have already lost so much in the last few years, starting with Upper Clements Park... If you want young people with families to come to our area, stop getting rid of things that will draw them in! The Basin View Building not only gave people many options from groceries, hair to the gym, but it also employed many!

Keep and support our local businesses. Groceries are affordable and staff really friendly. We don't have much in our community and surrounding areas that provide kids a safe and fun place to go. Keep the Fundy YMCA!!!

It would be a huge shame to lose this community space. Please figure out a way to keep it.

People made millions from a building that didn’t even last 20 years. This is disgraceful

This is so sad....more businesses suffer. Was bad enough Covd affected them now this.

I was so looking forward to rehab exercises in the pool.

WE need the building to be open. The grocery store is a great asset to the area. We will loose our mailboxes etc. This will put a number of people out of work.

We cannot lose these businesses and have another empty building!
