Tax's are high enough in this coty with the highest ever unemployment rate in canada. And you double our fines if not paid in 15 days??? For a 2$ a hour meter!!! I don't and wont go DT just for this reason , the parking banysitters DT are like Ants!!!

City council should realize the dire need to make this city more user friendly. Do they not get that connection with the economy?

I condemn the proposed elimination of the one hour free parking. There are several times that I am away to drop something off downtown for a very short time and have always appreciated the one hour time allowance that has been the established custom.

Honestly, I already find the cost of downtown parking in Windsor to be outrageous. For the size of this city, average wages earned and the immense efforts to revive the downtown centre, an increase to cost of parking is undeniably counterintuitive.

Could council prove they care about the people of our city, and making it more livable and inviting.

I think its important to understand that paid parking make sense. We pay for parking to maintain parking infrastructure, and to ensure parking is not abused, meaning people using parking spaces inappropriately or for longer than necessary. Paying for parking on the street helps keep spaces available which is an advantage to to patrons looking for a space. Paying for parking in garages mainly used to maintain this expensive infrastructure. So we understand that charging for parking has an important role. I'm signing this petition today because there is a key problem behind the changes that have gone into effect. Paying for parking on the street is actually is intended to benefit businesses and patrons. Paying for parking in lots and garages does the same because it makes construction and maintenance of these structures possible, but when we are simple looking to raise revenues and benefiting businesses and patrons is no longer the goal, we have a problem. I'm signing this because our city has alternate was to generate revenue though pay parking in city lots in other parts of the city where parking remains free. There is no issue with charging for parking. The issue here is over charging and already struggling downtown to generate revenue while other opportunities to generate revenue exist throughout the city.

I haven't been downtown in awhile because parking sucks and there's always break-ins in the garages, now I have to pay to have my car broken in to or pay more to park on the street? Guess it'll be even longer before I go downtown again.

Not only should the free hour of parking be continued, but it should be advertised. Few people are aware of it. A promotion would likely spurt downtown patronage.

I eat lunch downtown three times a week. I Park in the lots 90% of the time. Change for meters is a pain in the butt. Very 1950s. I never have it. I will visit downtown less if I need to pay or get tickets. Only option, update all meters to accept c. Cards.

People have gone as far away from downtown as possible. The ones who do come downtown will be discouraged by the removal of free parking. With a university, a college and possibly a law school, it is essential to continue to offer services to our visitors, residents and guests. It is the right thing to do. Why discourage future use of the city centre by de-marketing downtown.

One hour free parking is very valuable for businesses such as my own who have clients coming downtown to meet up for a short period of time. Very disappointed that we have to fight to keep this in a city that claims to be so focused on improving its downtown.
