It is so important that we have many outlets at our schools to show creativity and collaboration !! Sports and athletic programs are wonderful but we also need to support OoTM. Not every child is an athlete but OoTM is a way for children to benefit from using skills such as creativity, collaboration and team work . Many skills needed in life and many of the same skills shared with team sports! Please continue to support this wonderful program that has grown incredibly in the last 15 years thanks to the love and support of so many teachers , families and children and has brought tremendous pride to our district !!

I did speak at the board meeting in support of this program that provides team building, leadership, organization, public speaking, creativity, and engineering skills. My daughter participated from 5th grade to 12th grade where she attend many state conferences and World Finals three times. I understand cutting budgets but a coach for a team of 7 only makes $900 for the year from September to May working countless hours. Three Odyssey teams, instead of one team, for the high school would support 21 students for the entire year costing only $2,700 vs. ONE fall sport costing about $10,000 for coaches. Sports use countless buses vs. Odyssey using buses once or twice. Fundraising by students already takes place if students continue to the World Finals. This program is amazing. I hope the board revisits their decision where allowing only 7 students in the high school to participate would be a disadvantage to high level thinking students. This program should be expanded not cut. Thank you

We had four Woodstown OM teams out of seven make it to World Finals this year. That is incredible! To see how hard these kids work all year to prepare and see how well they work together is fantastic. Not everyone is a sports kid and to cut a creative program like this is a huge disservice to our district. Woodstown teams have consistently been top contenders at competition and the kids deserve to have this type of outlet. Please don’t make cuts to this already sparsely funded program.

There is so many other things that deserve to be cut than a productive, creative outlet for kids! Please keep it open to as many teams as we need.

Cutting a STEM program to just 7 individuals is a huge disservice to the students of WHS.
