Upstate progressive. Angler more than a hunter, who personally has no use for such events... but my towns and neighbors do upstate. I am all for regulation to protect wildlife populations, and even all for regulation on firearms to keep them to demonstrably sportsmanlike weapons. That’s to say, I’m pretty ‘on side’ with the broad outlines of state trends here. But this is way way way to far (like the more idiotic provisions of the SAFE act.). This is a blind and careless kick in the face to outdoorspersons and upstaters, and demonstrates a lack of respect for the diversity of ways of life in our state. Shame!

The benefits of these events far outweigh any negativity.

These contests provide much needed money for sportsman groups. Most of the money raised goes towards youth programs. In turn provide much needed animal control. By controlling overpopulation, it makes animal populations healthy and also saves taxpayers millions the dollars in damage caused by animals.

Any of these competitions and such bring in a revenue, friendly sport, bring many like-minded people together and also is a life long tradition often passed down through families

This is part of our hunting heritage and some of my best memories with my family and friends are doing these types of derbys it's more than just the hunt it's the time spent with fellow hunters

Stop trying to mess with hunting. There is LITERALLY no reason to ban these activities other than a liberal is butthurt and ran out of things to complain about or some politician is trying to gain the pity vote from animal activists.

This is terrible! Hunting and fishing is legal! Derbies and contests are great fundraisers for clubs, fire departments, and organizations in our area! Quit taking everything we enjoy away from us! We have been taking our kids to derbies since they were little. It is quality family time, unplugged!
